Karla García is Toronto-based musician and teacher. She is a classically trained guitarist and originally from Castro, Isla de Chiloé, Chile. After years of playing classical music, Karla has discovered her passion for music composition, production and Latin American music. In her compositions, Karla blends modern and traditional rhythms such as Waltz and Cueca from Chile.
As a performer, Karla has played a wide variety of musical genres - contemporary, folk, fado, rock, classical, celtic, latin american, and more. She has also participated in many guitar festivals and concerts around South America and North America. In 2010 she was awarded as a “Best Performer” at the César Cortinas Guitar Contest (Atlántida, Uruguay). Carlos Ledermann, one of the most important Chilean flamenco guitarists, dedicated his composition “Suite Emocional” to her. Karla has also taught master classes at one of the largest guitar festivals in Chile and South America, “Festival Entrecuerdas”. She has shared the stage with prestigious guitarists from Norway, Italy, Portugal and Canada.
